Takht –e- Rostam or Rostam’s Throne is name of a volcanic rock cliff (the highest mountain in the region) and ruins of an ancient Zoroastrian fire temple on it, around 80 km south west of Tehran and close to city of Shahriar. The temple belongs to Sassanid era (224-651 AD) and consists of two stages, the lower stage on the cliff slope and upper one on the pick. There are remains of some stone chambers which are believed to be fire braziers. The fire on upper stage was visible from distance of 150 km during clear nights.
