This old square dates back to 8th century AH. Among the buildings around it worth mentioning are Seyed Roknedin School and an ancient water reservoir.
There used to be astronomical observation installation (observatory) an endowment of the year 725 AH.and a clock. These in those times were important implements, and the square is so called because of these devices.
