Khan Takhty Encarvings – Salmas

At 76 km. of the Orumieh-Salmas Road there is a village known as Khan Takhti. There is a huge flat slab of stone in the heights on which the encarvings of Khan Takhti exists.   This engraving depicts three men, two of them riding alongside one on a galloping horse and with a head dress resembling a crown. The dress of these men are similar to that worn during the Ardeshir rule (one of the monarchs of the Sassanian dynasty), and some take it to be Shahpour I again one of the reputed rulers of this dynasty. This relic dates back to over 18 centuries.
