The northern city gate, Darvaza-e Arg, was built by Naser-o-din Shah. In the upper part of the gate pictures a scene from Shahname, Rostam fighting the white devil.
Spiked with blue-tiled baby minarets, Darvaza-e Arg is Semnan’s dinky but iconic Qajar-era city gate, with appealing tile murals adorning the northern facade.
